I'll admit that when my partner told me we were staying at a place called "Base2Stay," I thought he'd booked a room at some crappy youth hostel where I'd be sharing a dorm with backpackers smelling like patchouli and Dr. Bronner's soap.

However, despite the quirky name, Base2Stay Liverpool is the exact opposite of my mental picture. The hotel is stylish, modern, comfortable, and SO not a youth hostel. :) Base2Stay offers affordable rooms without sacrificing comfort, style, and luxury. The rooms are basic, but the basic things are modern and fresh. Wifi is speedy, the sheets are soft, the bathrooms are nicely appointed and the toiletries smell nice. Best yet, attention is paid to being environmentally friendly with less "greenwashing" you see at most hotels. (Not to say it doesn't exist, but it's not as bad as some chains I've seen; plus, the toiletries and other products are earth-friendly).

We only stayed one night, but it was a great stay. The people there were super nice and really friendly. The chain only has two hotels at the moment, but plans to expand slowly over the next 5 years. I'd definitely book at other Base2Stay outlets in the future, though, and certainly at this one once more should I find myself in Liverpool again.

Good value room for ~£45/nt. Excellent access to the pier, shopping & cultural areas, bit of a rough neighbourhood though.
Platform beds are nonetheless lumpy spring mattresses. The hotel has an appearance of modern chic, but really it's all a bit cheap without quality fixtures or a USB outlet. However, there is an European outlet in the room.

The water does get hot quickly which is good, but the drains are slow.

Parking is not included, it is a discounted rate @ a multi-story ~200m away.

Base2Stay was awesome. We were greeted by friendly staff, who later went out of their way suggesting places to eat and drink. There was clearly a lot of thought put into the design - the digs belied the price. It was impeccably clean, and very comfortable. As Avitania B. mentioned - speedy WiFi is a huge plus. Also, I couldn't get over the baller shower fixtures - fancy!

Our one difficulty was finding the place - we were in a car and it is just on one side of a pedestrian-only part of Seel St, making it difficult to get to when your GPS seems to think you can flout silly rules like that.

All in all an excellent experience.

Great central hotel in Liverpool. 5 mins walk to Liverpool One shopping district and 10 mins to Albert Dock. So you can go see the Beatles Story (Fab 4 Fans, sorry).

The hotel itself has really well appointed rooms with decent sized bathrooms. There is no bar/restuarant, but you are close to everything.

The staff are very freindly which really helps too.

Oh and the have free wifi!

We stayed 2 nights while in Liverpool recently and absolutely loved it. I would give it one more star if they had had cotton sheets.

The room was very nice and big. The location is excellent.

Nothing to complain about except for the sheets.

I have to agree with Ali E's review of this hotel. It's fanastic.

the location is great if you like to go clubbing. It's a quick walk around the corner to shopping and eatting too.

The rooms are nice/chic :) You have a mini fridge and utensils to use after picking up a quick bite at Tesco (just down the street) or any of the kebab places near by.

The staff is friendly and informative.

the room rate was great for our budget too.AND FREE WIFI

I loved this place as it was only 2 mins away from the square where the nightlife was and £5 cab fare from the docks ;) I deal location and excellent service

I stayed at Base2Stay Liverpool for just one night in December, for a fleeting visit to Liverpool. I have to say it's a fantastic hotel, and very cool. Great location. Cool artwork. Excellent price: for what you pay, very good value for money. Very happy that I've discovered Base2Stay and I will certainly be going back.

Very central hotel, modern amenities, contemporary design, comfortable bed, very helpful and friendly staff. Espresso machine in the foyer was a nice touch. our room had a lovely view across the Mersey. Excellent value, I would stay here again.

We were only staying 1 night in L'pool and found this hotel on Hotels.com. Wow, what a great find! This is a great hotel near all of the city centre action. The only things I was not too keen on at this hotel were the hard to find entrance - Only in the beginning though, once you find it once you're golden, and the lack of quality TV channels in the room.
