Amazing service and food was sublime. Was with a group of 10 and was looked after with no problem by 1 man and he was a sweetheart. Dessert was to die for. Definitely check it out if you're in the area. Amazing that you can byob and just drink and eat with no issue. Can't wait till i come back.

Inside La Fibule is supposedly reminiscent of the type of cafe you may find down the side streets of Tangier, though the closest I have come geographically to Morocco is a week in Tenerife, so I'll have to take their word for it. Its all low-light and cushioned, with metallic pendants hanging from the ceiling and walls adorned with paintings of scary looking men on horseback. It looks like both of the Shisha bars I have been in.
We started with a mezze of salads and dips; a carrot salad was fine enough, as was a salty paste of olives and feta. Hummus was lacking in both acidity and texture, whereas a beetroot salad merely ambled by. The star was the Badinjan; a smokey blend of aubergine, red pepper and tahine - its hummus for those that like to keep the taste-buds train. I'll be back, if only to mop a plate of this up with the supple flat breads.
Tagines next. One chicken with peppers, another with lamb, almonds and peppers - both remarkably similar. The base sauce was, once cooled down, an aromatic tomato based sauce not a million miles away from the shakshouka I rustle up at home. It was fine thing that soaked into a side of cous-cous with ease. It was pungent and spicy, even if both meats were a little on the dry side
Desserts seemed an afterthought, so we finished the beers purchased from the off licence a few doors down and called it a night. With starters around a fiver, mains a little over a tenner and side dishes a few quid more, La Fibule is an affordable and enjoyable evening. I cant tell you that its a truly authentic Moroccan experience, but I can say that we left neither hungry nor disappointed.

La Fibule is another of Moseley's restaurant gems that you should consider booking in advance, especially on a Friday or Saturday evening.

The food is North African so expect lots of yummy couscous and tagines. I can highly recommend the lamb and apricot tagine but I always find making a decision between this and their fish difficult. Often they have specials, including plenty of fish dishes, depending on what is in season and what they sourced that day at the market.

It doesn't serve alcohol and this normally divides my friends. Most are happy to save some money and go to the off licence before hand. Others are disappointed they can't have a decent gin and tonic but you can even get those in a can these days so as long as you plan ahead everyone should be happy.

It is very cosy inside especially when it is busy (most of the time) but this combined with the friendly staff make for a memorable evening. An ideal place for special occasions such as birthdays.

With an authentic-looking interior and food that comes served piping hot in traditional tagines, La Fibule is a hidden treasure for anyone who enjoys Moroccan food. The entire restaurant, modestly-sized though it may be, is routinely filled with the tantalising aromas wafting out of the kitchen.

It's quite intimate in there, and the tables are often crowded close together on busy nights. The food isn't cheap, but given the scarcity of other similar restaurants in the immediate area, I have no real basis for comparison. As far as quality and taste is concerned, La Fibule has these in spades. The vegetarian selection could do with some work, but what they do have is nice enough to keep me going back there whenever I can.

Went with a group of friends on a Thursday night. Booked easily and staff greeted us at the door. It's byob but there's a nice selection of soft drinks. Food was good - Tasty and good portion sizes. Decor was also nice.

      Well well well
I really did not fancy this as friends had booked it BUT was pleasantly surprised by a really tasty meal and at a good value.
The service was a little slow and they ultimately lost a chance for us to order deserts as we waited so long after the main. The bench seating was a little uncomfortable but that I think is really down to preference ( I've never liked eating on the sofa at home either !)
Overall great meal spoiled by a large party of students obviously out for the first time without mommy and daddy and drinking beer !
Will definitely be back for some more good food and will give the service another chance to shine
      Mike

Had a girls' night out with two other ladies here, each getting one of the 3 tajines on the menu - all delicious!! I had the yogurt/sage/mint and I've honestly never tasted anything like it, lamb was tender and the sauce was incredible. Make sure you order couscous to go with it, and we also had a decent tomato salad.
      Good: service & food
Not so good: prices were bordering on a tad steep for portion sizes; had the mezza starter - pretty standard/bland, I make better hummus myself, and the creme brulee was not great, but it is a french dish after all...
      Overall, would go again.
Also - it's only BYO alcohol - so don't forget your wine!

This North African restaurant is packed full of charm and a great one to visit both with a group of friends or with your family. This is my favourite type of cuisine as it reminds me of times I spend in Algeria with my family over there. The host is always very welcoming and friendly and the food is delicious.
My favourite thing to order here is the lamb tagine with apricots but my mum swears by their couscous dishes. It was a sad day for me when the mixed brochettes no longer came with lamb. When I enquired about this the waiter explained they had had complaints about the lamb being too tough so now lamb is reserved for the tagines only. It is true that the lamb is of a tenderness that can only really be achieved by slow cooking. They are known for their fish dishes and although I loved the sea bass I chose from the specials board I was envious of my friend's tagine.
Mezze starter is a great way to get your taste buds tingling. For alcoholic drinks you can bring your own (somewhat lowers the price of the evening) and Mace and Drinksville are within metres of this restaurant. I think everyone should try this restaurant at least once!

An excellent night out with great food. Good for small groups too, we had a friends birthday here recently and they catered well for 12, all the food arriving hot in good time. The service comes with a chat and a smile and we always feel most welcome.

Not truly authentic but as close as you will get in brum.

One small gripe, they need to have Harissa available.
