Beautiful property in excellent condition, but for these prices things have to be perfect -- and for me they weren't.
I reserved a Mandarin King room which was advertised as having high ceiling with great views. My room was on the 7th floor -- not accessible via the elevator -- you need to take the elevator to 6 and walk up a double flight of stairs, schlepping your bags, to get to your room.
Once you catch your breath, you walk in and realize you're on the top floor with tiny windows and in-sloping walls. Once the initial claustrophobia fades, you undergo a process something akin to the 5 stages of dying: denial, anger, bargaining, and such. Then, questioning your own sanity, you re-check the hotel website and confirm that your room type is marketed as offering "high ceilings" and shows pictures of bright, lovely rooms, not the attic closet where Edward Rochester locked his ex-wife in Jane Eyre.
Oh, and the website pictures had sitting areas with love seats in them. Imagine you want to do some entertaining: Hi, come in. Please sit on the uh bed. No.
I found the front desk were rude. I was interrupted before I could explain the situation. They told me they'd call back and didn't within about an hour. I called them. Got interrupted again.
For this I'm paying over 1200 Euros a night? They're nicer at the Marriott.
Finally, I ended up working with a nice chap named Alex. While did a great job fixing the problem, the catch was they didn't have a room that resembled the one on the website so they had to upgrade me -- at my expense. An extra 180 Euros a night. Since I was tired, I just paid it but wow, what a faux pas. If the hotel can't deliver a room that looks like the picture, then the "upgrade" (back to what I thought you bought) should be on their nickel, not mine.
The lobby lounge is very nice. While it doesn't look restaurant-y they do serve food (I had a lovely schnitzel with white asparagus), serve beer, and have a nice-looking whisky cabinet that I left for another day.
Room service wise, I ordered a few things. The currywurst (the only sausage on the menu) was not great but I have no idea if that's because I don't like currywurst or it was a bad version. It was lukewarm, again not sure if intended or not. But I had high hopes which were let down. (Maybe have some kaisekraner or more accessible fare?)
Breakfast was slightly above a disaster. See picture. 1400 Euros a night and we can't ... poach an egg? So unless hard-boiled Eggs Benedict is a thing in Germany, then it was bad. Hash browns were cold.
If you're still reading, this as much a reflection on this ultra-high-end hotel brands as it is on Mandarin Oriental as it is on this specific hotel. Once every year or so often I try one and it's consistently not worth it. If you like to be surrounded by fancy people, see Bugatti's parked out front, and hear your surname a lot, come.
If you'd prefer a room that matches the room description, elevators that go to all floors, poached eggs that aren't hard boiled, hash browns and currywursts that aren't lukewarm, then well, go elsewhere.
It's my first time trying this brand and it's likely to be my last.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Daniel S.Santa Monica, Stany Zjednoczone1194815327 wrz 2022
Customer service is best in Munich. Katsuhisa is simply phenomenal. Order everything but bring your checkbook.
Great martinis and beautiful lounges and corridors make you want to stay in all day (weather does too).
Americans will feel at home at this swanky rest stop.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mark And Anne B.Dana Point, Stany Zjednoczone0423 gru 2022
2 terrible experiences. One with breakfast where I was totally forgotten- had to flag down a server to order. 30 minutes later got the bill, including breakfast I had NOT received. Oh, had to fetch my own salt and pepper also. Finale: NO ONE ever asked me if if needed anything (the salt and pepper or even a 2nd cup of coffee!) #crappyservice
SAME day, ate at Matsuhisa, ordered only 4 items. Received 3, but, you guessed it, got the bill for all. Matsuhisa food was excellent but couldn't I have gotten the sashimi also?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alicia W.Cape Coral, Stany Zjednoczone3138515513 gru 2019
Classy. Gorgeous place. Beautiful view from the rooftop! A great place to see the sunset. We had cocktails but didn't eat. The food looked great though.

The Mandarin Oriental is a five star hotel located in the center of Munich a few steps away from Marienplatz and a short walk to the U-Bahn and S-Bahn; and is by far, the best hotel in Munich for many reasons including their staff who always greet their guests in a friendly and professional manner; the elegant, warm and inviting ambience of the lobby, the spacious comfortable rooms, and (of course) Nobu Matsuhisa's restaurant on the second level. You cannot go wrong staying at the MO in Munich.

Down the street from the Hofbrau? Check
Down the street from the Hard Rock? Check.
I stayed for 4 nights once in the tower suite, and was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The room was spacious and luxurious, the rooftop pool entrance was right outisde the room, the staff was meticulous, and they even gave me a BMW at my disposal with GPS- I was able to travel to the countryside and experience Neuschwanstein!
One of my favorite hotel chains, will definitely be on the top of my list when traveling!
The top place to stay in Munich...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - A C.Encinitas, Stany Zjednoczone1421403120 cze 2019
Very classy, the staff addresses you by name when you walk in. The hotel is 5 star for a reason! The hotel is centrally located and very clean. Order room service for breakfast. This is the best hotel in Munich!

Matsuhisa enters Germany's culinary world
In November 2015, we introduced the award-winning cuisine of internationally celebrated chef Nobuyuki (Nobu) Matsuhisa to the Bavarian capital, and to Germany. The restaurant follows the successful format of the chef's original Matsuhisa Beverly Hills and his five other exclusive outposts around the world.
Offering Nobu Matsuhisa's renowned New Style Japanese-Peruvian cuisine the menu has an emphasis on seafood, featuring signature dishes such as the legendary Black Cod and Yellowfin Tuna Sashimi with jalapeños, alongside grilled lamb cooked over tealeaves with Peruvian Anticucho sauce, as well as traditionally prepared sushi.
The restaurant offers a semi-private dining section with space for up to 10 guests. In this intimate setting, guests can experience Omakase, a bespoke culinary experience exploring the chef's choice of tailor-made menus. Matsuhisa, Munich will also feature an exclusive eight-seat live cooking counter where skilled chefs will prepare a variety of Nobu's famous Japanese-Peruvian dishes.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
