Dr Lopez had been out family dentist for nearly 20 years. I inherited a difficult problem with a formerly impacted wisdom tooth I had surgery on as a high school student. She managed a difficult half crown with a laser gum recision that worked so well I forgot it was there. I've never had a dentist that was so gentile and skilled. When our company insurance stopped paying for her, we stayed with her because of the skill and preventative actions saved us money and difficulties later. Her hygienists are very well trained and carefully trained with substantial oversight.

She was the first dentist in the area to start laser-based gum repair, the first to set up digital scan based tooth and crown design. Lastly, when I needed oral surgery, she immediately recommended a very competent surgeon. Honestly, she is the first dentist I pretty much trust completely.

My two stars is for the fact that Dr. Lopez does not contract with any dental insurance and her prices therefore are very high. She charged me over $2000 for one crown and any follow up visits regarding the same crown were billed at $97 per visit, for the same crown, and those were issues regarding bite or pain. I feel that those visits should be part of follow-up care and not extra, given that Dr. Lopez can charge the maximum rate for her services given she is not beholden to a contracted insurance rate. The office does let you make payments on these charges but at the end of the day you're still paying a very inflated fee,versus if you had gone to a dentist that was contracted with an insurance company. She is very accommodating and gentle if you have anxiety around dental work so she definitely gets five stars for that.

I'm sad to be moving, in part because Dr. Lopez's practice is the best dental office I have experienced by far. Quality care, on-time appointments, compassionate staff, and the most painless treatments I've ever had. Highly recommend!

Dr. Lopez and her staff are amazing! They truly care about their patients and everyone in the office are super sweet. Dr. Lopez is always learning the newest techniques and technologies in dentistry and is the best dentist in SB and Goleta.
