The Hull Pie

Little Gem on Newland Ave and also as its Christmas there's a little 'Hull Pie' Hut outside St Stephens shopping centre too.

Am glad to see one of Hull's very own initiatives taking off well on a street full of coffee and sandwhich shop. As a 'grab and go' take away eatery I always see it bustling at lunchtime; mainly full of uni students. The smell around this place got to me one day and I had to stop try one of the famous Pies.

I had the chicken and Leek Pie - the chicken pieces were juicy and the leek very fragrant. I had no qalms about the flavours but the quantity of filling inside didnt quite cut it for me. There wasnt enough. TOO much pastry and not enough substance.

However service was excellent and food presentation very thoughtful - a good looking little pie in a cute brown parcel box with a fork convieniently nestled into the side - FAB!

I would ldefinatley go back - the price is cheap and cheerful and I'd like to try other pies.

Pies, Glorious Pies!
Hull Pie, you'll be unsurprised to hear, specialises in pies. These are individual pies, prepared and baked fresh every day and are beyond delicious. They have several sides; mash, gravy, roast potatoes, honeyed carrots and peas are the ones I remember and it's very reasonably priced less than £5 for a pie and sides. I honestly can't praise this place highly enough. All of the food is delectable, the choice ever-changing and constantly good quality, the service is friendly fast and efficient and the price cannot be beaten.
Try it now! They have a standard set of 5 pies Sausage, Chorizo and Bean, Chicken and Stuffing, Beef in Red Wine (my favourite), BBQ Pulled Pork and Butternut Squash and Vegetarian Sausage.
They also have a range of guest dishes which change everyday:

Sausage rolls e.g. Jalapeno and Smoked Cheese or Feta and Sun-dried Tomato

Baked desserts e.g. Carrot Cake, Millionaire Shortbread or Brownies. All dishes are available to take away and they have a seating area upstairs replete with a limited selection of books to while away the time with your coffee and Whoopee pie.

Best lunch deal in Hull!!!! Fresh food, excellent choices, fast and courteous service!!! A must to do in Hull!!!
